Carrot @ Whitman

This site is the portal for my activities here at Whitman College in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. Current students may access course materials and see their current grades. Former students can find archives of past classes with me. Instructions for letters of reference, descriptions of current projects and department information are also available.

Local Weather Graphs

Being a bit of a weather geek, I maintain the following graphs of Walla Walla temperature readings relative to average data from 1980-2010. The historical data was obtained from the Desert Research Institute's Western Regional Climate Center. The current temperature readings are obtained automatically from the Whitman College Weather Station every 5 minutes.

Average daily temperatures from the College weather station over the past year. The orange upper curve and blue lower curve show the daily average high and low temperatures. We expect the average temperatures to lie between these bounds. At the far right is the current temperature and high and low temperatures so far today. Horizontal lines help to put these temperatures from today into seasonal context by seeing where they intersect the normal temperature range.
